GAPS stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome which is a diet that has derived from the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. Super high level, the GAPS diet includes foods that are easy to digest and removes foods that are hard to digest and may be impacting gut flora.

How Does it Work?
There are six stages to this diet which are the following (2):
Consuming homemade bone broth, probiotic food juices, ginger, mint tea and chamomile tea between meals
Add ghee, stews with vegetables, meat fish, and raw organic egg yolks
Everything from stages 1 and 2 as well as fermented vegetables, avocado, and "GAPs" pancakes and scrambled eggs which are made with ghee and duck or goose fat
In stage four you can add grilled and roasted meats, vegetable juice, cold-pressed olive oil and "GAPS" bread
Add raw vegetables (lettuce, peeled cucumber, fruit juice, some raw fruit but no citrus), and cooked apple puree
Lastly, more raw fruit and citrus fruit
Who Is It For?
This diet was intended for individuals experiencing "autism, ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, depression, and schizophrenia" (1).
If you go to the official GAPs website they also recommend taking certain supplements, such as:
Essential Fatty Acids
Vitamin A (do no take if you are pregnant or planning to conceive)
