Coconut Matcha Latte

This is the perfect cozy drink for the Fall or Winter months! Matcha is a green tea that comes in a powdered form. You can usually find it pretty easy online or at health food stores. 


Matcha is said to be high in antioxidants, chlorophyll and can boost your metabolism but for me its all about the more steady energy boost it gives me opposed to coffee. I have found that coffee does not agree with my digestive system and that my body becomes addicted to it quickly meaning that a morning without leads to a serious headache. 

I cut coffee out this year and generally stick to herbal teas but for those certain days green tea and matcha lattes are the perfect substitute to coffee. 


This latte recipe is extra tasty because it includes regular coconut milk and coconut milk from the can which making it more creamy! 




Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coconut milk or plant-based milk of choice (or the amount of your mug)

  • 1 can coconut milk (save extra for another serving)

  • 1 tsp matcha

  • 1 tsp maple syrup or honey

Process:

  1. Open a can of coconut milk and remove the excess liquid. Let sit overnight.

  2. ​If you don't remember, you can add it as is, but it will just won't be as creamy

  3. Take your mug and fill it with milk of choice leaving a little bit of room at the top

  4. Add the milk to a saucepan and heat on medium-low heat.

  5. When it is hot enough add it to a blender with the matcha and maple syrup. 

  6. Blend on high until frothy.

  7. Remove and add a large tablespoon of the canned coconut milk. You can also add it to the blender if you prefer.
