I am a firm believer that its always better to cook from scratch when you can. With that said, it can be pretty tricky to eat all homemade meals and snacks with our busy schedules. I believe that packaged foods can play a role in a healthy diet and support overall wellness. If eating a healthier packaged alternative is going to prevent you from grabbing that bag of chips, then that is a great start in the right direction.
However, not all packaged foods that claim to be healthy are actually healthy. Many have added sugars for example to make up for missing ingredients like gluten and dairy.

So how do you know what packaged foods are good and what are bad? The best, and typically the only way, is by looking at the ingredients list. If it contains lots of sugars, words you can't pronounce, and vague words like "natural flavourings", you should probably avoid it or at least do some more research.
Here are some of my favourite brands/products to get packaged:
Energy bars or granola bars like Boho Bars and Larabars
Kombucha from Booch Organic Kombucha
FreeYumm cookies. Not really healthy but a great allergy-free alternative in moderation
Butter-free plain organic popcorn
Plain tortilla chips or Siete Chips (but quite pricey)
Teas (I like Pukka Teas!)
Adaptogens (I like Sun Potion brand)
Chia seed and hemp seed packages for on the road
Protein powders like Great Lakes Collagen
Bob's Red Mill Gluten-Free Rolled Oats or Oatmeal cups for travelling
Nona's vegan sauces
Nuts for Cheese vegan cheese
Eating Evolved Chocolate (not necessarily healthy but a great alternative to traditional candy bar companies!)
Chosen Foods Salad Dressings and Avocado Mayo
NUCO Coconot Wraps
Simple Mills Crackers, doughs, etc.
Primal Kitchen Salad Dressings and Sauces
Nut and Seed Butters
Sauerkraut and other fermented foods
Chickpea/Lentil Pastas - I like Tolerant brand!
And there are many more brands and food products not listed that can still play a large or small role in a healthy diet
In good health,
