It may not be fun to talk about but Candida, also known as Candidiasis is quite common and may be impacting your health.

So what is it? Candida is an overgrowth of yeast in the body. It may sound unpleasant but it is actually quite common and is nothing to be embarrassed about. Despite it being common, its important that you take treat it if you think you have it as it can interfere with the nervous system, impact joints and muscles and has been linked to serious conditions like endometriosis, cancer and ovarian cysts.

Individuals who live in colder and wet climates are more likely to have candida and can worsen in the winter months. Sorry Canadians!

So that is what it is VERY high level, but how do you know if you are experiencing it? There are Candida tests you can get through your naturopath but here are some common symptoms:

-recurring vaginal or UTI infections

-skin irritation and rashes

-fatigue

-bad breath

-sugar cravings

-digestive upset (bloating, gas, diarrhea, constipation)

-PMS/hormone imbalance

-muscle and joint pain

-and a general sense of feeling unwell

How do you get rid of it? Well I highly suggest you speak to a health care practitioner, naturopathic doctor or holistic nutritionist. There are diets and supplements that can help but it's best done under the supervision of a professional. We can work together to find recipes, meals and foods that suit an Anti-Candida Diet.
