Your New Favourite Summer Kombucha Cocktails

Heyooo! I can almost taste a refreshing and fizzy ginger kombucha as I am writing this post. Kombucha is mainly known as a fermented drink that has been shown to support gut health. 

 

Fermentation in Kombucha 

 It’s the process of using microorganisms, such as bacteria or yeast, to convert carbohydrates to alcohol or organic acids under anaerobic conditions. There is alcoholic fermentation and lactic acid. Lactic acid reduced growth of bad bacteria and improves digestion.

Whether or not you have outright symptoms, most of us could benefit from extra gut support. This is because we are exposed to more toxins, stress and processed foods.

Here are the top benefits of Kombucha:

With that being said, one thing to be mindful of is that kombucha can worsen certain conditions like gas and bloat so avoid drinking it when you are experiencing those symptoms. Also, some can contain high amounts of sugar so check the label!

Making Kombucha into Cocktails

Kombucha cocktails (you can make into mocktails too, duh!) are the perfect treat for a summer BBQ, night out or day at the cottage. Instead of using pop and juice for your mix, try kombucha which gives a great fizzy and refreshing taste!

Some detoxing Summer Kombucha Cocktail recipes for home:

  1. Gin Mixed Berry
  2. Apple Ginger Booch
  3. Fruit Punch
  4. Kombucha Mojito

Gin Mixed Berry Komcocktail: 

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup ginger kombucha
  • 1/2 cup fruit/mixed berry kombucha
  • 1 cup ice

Directions: combine all ingredients in a glass and mix well

 

Apple Ginger Booch!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp fresh apple juice or apple cider vinegar 
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup ginger kombucha
  • Optional: fresh apple slices

Directions: combine all ingredients in a glass and mix well

Spiked Fruit Punch 

Ingredients:

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1/2 lemon juiced
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup fruit punch/mixed berry flavoured kombucha 

Directions: combine all ingredients in a glass and mix well

 

Kombucha Mojito

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup fresh mint
  • 1/2 lime juiced
  • 1 cup ginger kombucha
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 ounce rum

Directions: combine all ingredients in a glass and mix well

Don't forget that you can omit the alcohol to make them a refreshing drink for any occasion!
